One of Mimar (architect) Sinan’s largest and most beautiful masterpieces, this impressive structure was completed in 1557 and proudly looms over the Istanbul skyline with historic glory. The resting place of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent and his wife Roxalana, the mosque also holds great views of Galata Tower and the Golden Horn. The massive scale of this mosque is best appreciated from a distance. Up close, it is interesting to wander around the complex of buildings.
