The Panorama 1453 Tarih Muzesi commemorates the Ottoman siege of Constantinople on May 29, 1453.
With the aid of cannons, Mehter bands, and 3,000 square meters housing thousands of painting and figurines, the museum effectively recreates the scene of the Topkapı-Edirnekapı ramparts - the location of the fifteenth-century siege.
Today, the Panorama 1453 Tarih Muzesi is located in Topkapi Cultural Park, an area that used to be a bus terminal. The museum opened on January 31, 2009, thanks to the efforts of the Istanbul Metropolitan City Council as well as Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
